Week 5 Update

We are halfway through the term!

Dear Parents, Caregivers and extended Whanau.

We cannot quite believe it - where did those five weeks go?  Tina and I are loving our teaching in Room 5.  We have the most amazing group of students who are so CURIOUS, and display amazing EMPATHY towards each other.  They are OPEN MINDED to trying all the new experiences coming their way and the level of PERSISTENCE they have with their tasks makes it hard to believe they were only 4 years old a few weeks ago!
We are very excited to welcome Ruby,Joel, Livvie, Elsie and Mia to our class since our last letter.  These children have settled in so well - and taken to our expectations of big school kids easily.
Thank you so much for the raffle items that have been steadily coming in.  This week we are after sweet making items and next week anything in a bottle…. these contribute towards AMAZING raffle prizes so every little item helps.  We are busy training for the cross country and our children are giving it their all.  They are actually running 500m on the day so please try to come along on Thursday 10 September to cheer them on.  A separate notice has been sent home about this day and the postponement date - also check our our school newsletter for this information.
It has been so exciting for our children to see you have commented on their blogs - or on the class one.
Our class blog is http://2015frankleyroom5.blogspot.co.nz/ and from there you can see your childs blog.  There is a ‘follow by email’ gadget where you enter your email and you will receive an email if a new post is added.  You can find your child’s blog linked to the class blog and can also subscribe to that for updates.   Tina and I are on this Blog learning journey with your child and are excited about sharing the wonderful learning taking place in our Room with you all.
We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to listen to your children read each evening and telling us about it in their notebooks that go home with them.  The notebooks are an excellent form of communication between home and school as all parties see them everyday.  You may also contact us on tina@frankley.school.nz or wendyp@frankley.school.nz, and we are very open to you popping into the classroom before 8.50 for a chat - or after 3.00.
Summer sport notices have started to go home.  Cricket is due back this Friday and Touch Rugby next week.  As with all school sports, parent support is what helps them happen.
And last but by no means least we have a Junior Assembly this Friday at 2.25.  Pop along if you get the chance.

Thank you so much for sharing your children with us - we are just having a blast in Room 5!

Tina and Wendy.
