Okoare Pa

Today we walked to Okoare Pa. The Pa site is located in the FDMC farmland.
Mr Ritai led our group and explained to us why the Pa site had been located where it was.
We had a wonderful view of the sea, other Pa sites, Mount Taranaki and Frankley School.

Welcome to Term 2

Today was a lovely start to Term 2. Great weather and happy children!

It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces as the children arrived at school, keen to be back and ready for learning.

We hope you enjoyed the holiday break and had a chance to relax.

We have been extremely lucky this year to have Lily's nanny come to school on Monday afternoons to take Te Kakano and Te Puawai for music and movement.

We had fun today learning some more new songs and moving to the beat.

Welcome To Te Kakano

Wow, what a wonderful start to the year we have had in Te Kakano. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to ur blog.

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Amanda and Jenny. Together we will be collaboratively teaching and caring for all the learners within Te Kakano. We will also be working closely with Geraldine Irvine in the Te Puawai hub.

Our class blog is a forum to share information about events and activities that are happening with in our environment. Our learners will help us to construct the posts and we hope that they will give you the required information and also allow for discussions between you and your child about their school day. We also will be using the blog to share useful sites, research and activity ideas that could support your child's learning at home.

We welcome comments and look forward to sharing these with our learners.

Getting To Know Our Big Buddies

Each new student to Te Kakano is matched with a Big Buddy from the Year 5 and 6 hubs.  One of the important responsibilities our buddies have is to support our students during break times and whole school events such as our Whakangahau.  They have done a wonderful job of helping our students settle in and feel comfortable within the school grounds.

We have had a lot of fun getting to know more about our buddies through play since the beginning of the year and we are looking forward to working alongside and sharing our learning with them during the year.  There is a wonderful display in our classroom of our students with their big buddies. Please feel free to have a look and talk to your child about their buddy.
