Rock pools

Now that swimming has nearly come to an end we are going to spend many of our afternoons learning about rock pools.  This is a Science topic which falls into the Living World strand.  The junior teaching team felt that this would be a great topic.  As the children spent alot of time down at the rock pools on our Beach Day and were really excited about what they saw.  On Friday we had Mr Archer visit our classroom to talk about what lives in the rock pools.  Mr Archer works for the Taranaki Regional Council and he showed us photos of some of the creatures that we might find in a rock pool.  He was very funny and joked with us that we might see a pig or even an elephant which made us laugh.
We will be heading back to the same rock pools to investigate and I will let you know the date and time as soon as it is finalised.  We will need parent help for this trip to go ahead.
Could the children please keep bringing their togs to school everyday this week as we may still be able to squeeze in a quick swim.
Mr Archer is showing us the three different sea stars we might find in the rock pools.
